Terms of Service
Version 1 - 18 October 2026
These terms apply when you use Commander Companion (commandercompanion.app). You accept them when you tap Get Started after entering your name. Please read them with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your data and is not part of these terms.
Who we are
Commander Companion is a free, non-commercial project run by Ethan Sawyer in the United Kingdom. Contact: privacy@doxbox.org.
Who can use it
Anyone aged 13 or over.
Playing fair
- Pick a display name that isn’t offensive and doesn’t impersonate anyone. It is shown to everyone in your game.
- Only share a lobby’s join code with people you want in the game.
- Don’t disrupt other people’s games, overload or attack the service, get around its limits, or use it for anything unlawful.
- Lobby owners can remove players from their lobby before the game starts.
Reporting problems
To report an offensive name or other misuse, email privacy@doxbox.org with the lobby code if you have it. We will look into it, and we can remove offensive names and players who misuse the service. If you think we got a decision wrong, email us and we will look at it again and tell you what we decided.
Free and provided as it is
- Commander Companion is free. It is a hobby project, so we can’t promise it will always be available or error-free, and we may change or retire it.
- Game data is deleted on the schedule in the Privacy Policy, so don’t rely on the app as a permanent record of your games.
- Life totals and other numbers are only as accurate as what is entered. If there is a disagreement at the table, the cards and the players decide.
Liability
- Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit. If you are a consumer, nothing here affects your legal rights.
- We are not responsible for loss or damage that was not foreseeable, or that was caused by events outside our reasonable control, by other players, or by other companies’ services.
- We are not responsible for game data lost from the app unless we lost it by failing to use reasonable care and skill.
- Subject to the first point, our total liability to you is limited to £50.

Changes to these terms
We may change these terms to reflect changes in the law or the app, for security reasons, or to make them clearer. We will update the version and date above. The version in force when you start or join a game applies to it. If you don’t agree with a change, stop using the app and delete your data in Settings.
General
- These terms are between you and us. No one else has any right to enforce them.
- If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
- These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring legal proceedings about the app in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland you can also bring them in the Scottish courts, and in Northern Ireland in the Northern Irish courts. If you live in the EU you can also bring them where you live. Wherever you live, you keep the protection of any rules of your local law that cannot be overridden by agreement.
